Places Tbilisi Sports Palace

The Tbilisi Sports Palace is an iconic indoor arena located in the heart of Georgia’s capital city on 26 May Square. Built in 1961 under the direction of architect Vladimir Aleksi-Meskhishvili and his team, the complex has become an important venue for a variety of sporting and musical events. Basketball, handball, judo, tennis and boxing competitions are regularly held at the venue. In addition, both world stars and Georgian artists often perform here.

The Sports Palace stands out as the largest basketball arena in the former USSR. It is the home field of the Dynamo Basketball Club and the Georgian National Team. In 2007, under the direction of Tbilisi Mayor Gigi Ugulava, a large-scale reconstruction was carried out: the playing areas were updated, the roof was replaced and new seats were installed.
